David Anonychuk has nearly 25 years of international mining and metallurgical experience, working in operational, management and marketing positions at mine sites, smelters and the offshore offices of major metals producers and industrial groups (Glencore, Xstrata, Falconbridge, Noranda and Newmont). This has given him experience across a wide range of minor and specialty metals and minerals, as well as the major base metals, including copper, nickel, cobalt, PGMs, molybdenum, rare earths, graphite, fluorspar and fertilizer materials. David has senior management experience with a major North American metals smelting and recycling operation where metals recovered include selenium and tellurium. He has conducted a detailed assessment of the cobalt mining in the DRC, and the processing supply chain.
Prior to joining M.Plan, he led the development and execution of business strategies for commercial application of an innovative antimicrobial copper coating process as Managing Director at Aereus Technologies Inc.
Through his positions with the Canadian Copper & Brass Development Association and the Copper Development Association USA, David has first-hand knowledge of both the traditional, large-scale markets and the emerging applications for copper and copper alloys (electric vehicles and renewable energy storage). David has been recognized by his peers for successfully introducing corporate best practice portals at Xstrata, as well as for his industry leadership.
David graduated with a Metallurgical Engineering degree from McGill University and has an MBA (Finance Specialization) from Queens University.
